The design competition brief calls for adaptive re-use of several villas currently on site while introducing a mixed-use art hub featuring hospitality, exhibition, and leisure facilities. At the heart of the site, BCD has designed a new sunken public square which extends into the neighboring park. A hotel block, restaurants, and the cultural facilities are all organized around this central courtyard. A pristine glass-walled library acts as anchor to the cultural and leisure facilities, with galleries and restaurants taking up residence in the existing villas, breathing new life into these previously neglected structures.
